Sunday 21st July 2024
Teams will race against each other over a 200 metre course (which should take around 1.5 - 2 minutes to complete). Each race you are in will be timed, and your best time over the three races will be the one that is used to determine whether you go into the final for your category. Each team will get three races during the day, and then if you qualify for the final, you get one more race. There is a gap of about 1.5 hours between each of your races. (So got steady on the refreshments!)
We will be getting some paddling practice before the event.
The cost of entering a team is Ā£575 (including vat) if entries are received before 15th April and Ā£600 thereafter.
A full Dragon Boat team consists of 16 paddlers and one drummer: so a total of 17 people. You must have a drummer, however you donāt need to have 16 paddlers. A team with 12 paddlers can compete well.
All paddlers need to be 12 years and over (physically not mentally)
Ā£45 per person, and any funds left over will go towards some refreshment for us on the day or our chosen charity pot..
If you would like to be apart of this wonderful event please send payment over asap as the cost will go up on 15th April..
Payment please use the following account details;

Background to the festival This year Dragon Boat Events are excited to be working with Friendās of Canbury Gardens and The Boaters Inn to continue this annual festival. Much of the event will be the same but you will hopefully see an even bigger focus on local community support. Our aim is to create a community event that enables local charities and other good causes to raise funds, whilst having fun at the same time. So if you are looking to enter a team we ask that you choose a charity or local cause to support. We then ask you to pledge that you will aim to raise at least Ā£1,000 for that charity. If you cannot raise Ā£1,000, donāt worry, there is no penalty! We just try to encourage everyone to do their best to make the day as worthwhile as possible.
